The Oaks Heritage Centre - Excellent
Posted by Margaret Jarosz - Ingleburn CWA & RSL Womens Auxiliary at Wednesday 26 November 2008
Hi there eveyone
This is a place that everyone must see.
Parts of history revisited, great for school children to see how the people of the past had to work and labour in the "good old days". The buildings and layout is great for people of all ages, and they have disability access.
One building houses military memories of people who have been born, lived, served overseas and worked in the area. Another building houses old farm equipment for packing fruit from the orchards and an old egg separating machine. Another building houses a school room (approx 1900) with the voices of the school children asking questions and answers. It is a real credit to the volunteers at The Oaks, they even have recipe books and the recipes are never fail tried an true. I enjoyed the time I spent there and would recommendit to everyone to at least see this display once. There are lots of other things to see and do too many to mention in one review.
There is also the availability of arranging a coach visit and arranging a real county morning tea, home made scones etc.
