Women Beware

I have recently returned from visiting family in Picton ( NSW) and as they did not have room for all of the visiting family myself and my husband decided to stay as the Picton Hotel, at this was only 5 minutes from my brothers house. I will not forget this experience any time soon. When we arrived ( at about 6pm )to check in we found that all of the power had gone in the rooms upstairs, apparently this was not the first time as we was informed by a trucker also staying at the so called hotel, so we left our bags in the room and went for dinner. On return, the power was back on, and I must say that I wished they stayed off. The room looked like something from a very poor halfway house for drug offenders. The bed was made up of different clashing bedding and the furniture from a car boot sale. Sadly, this was not the worse of our (cut short) stay. In the morning, I went for a shower in the Women’s communal bathroom to be informed by another guest that there was a man showering in there. I therefore waited to confront this person as they left the “so called Women’s Bathroom “. A very slimy arrogant little man emerged and informed me that ( as the previous owner of the public house ) he lived in the rooms on that floor and that this was his personal bathroom which he also shared with all of the female guests, “ we all shower together and it was tough if I had a problem with that”. I went down into the bar and demanded my money back ( as they make you pay on arrival) the staff was not concerned as this man was a lost soul and was used to him acting this way around the other guests. Therefore, if you are thinking of visiting Picton do not even think about staying at this doss house. If I was you I would do what we did and move to THE CROWN HOTEL in CAMDEN an altogether nicer town with real Motel rooms and a great pubs and give Picton a miss altogether.

This pub is great, they dont offer accomadation, which is a shame as it is a really beautiful old pub. The beer garden was loverly and the staff and locals were very welcoming. We ate there for $10 steak on the Saturday night and were amazed at the value for money. Thanks for making it a great night! We stayed at teh B&B in Picton that was really good too. :)
