Mowbray Park Farmstay

I didn't really have high expectations of this place, after all it is a farm and seemed quite rustic, so i was prepared for that. However for a two night stay it was $1000 (family of 5), so I at least expected organisation and quality food. I was extremely disappointed. The house we were staying in was OLD, tiny and all the surfaces were dusty. Microwave was about 20 years old. House was in a noisy spot, making it almost impossible for my son to have a nap during the day, due to tractors, bikes, buses, kids all passing by. Holes everywhere, which is probably why we shared the nights with a small nocturnal animal behind the lounge which I could hear but not see. Also saw a mouse run across the room. Also the hot water did not work other than a small trickle. I had to complain about three times, the last time I was getting a bit hysterical as I had baby bottles to wash and vomit to clean off clothes. Fortunately it was fixed by breakfast the next morning. The running water was bore water so had a distinct brown hue. The first night we were provided with damp firewood so when we threw a log on the fire at 2am it set off the fire alarms throughout the house and I had to calm three kids down and get them back to sleep.
Kids dinner time of 5:30pm and kids club was advertised, but this didn't happen the first night. As a result my son was overtired by dinner time and didn't eat much. When he did he vomited on himself. I can understand why, it was pretty awful food, childrens food was cheap chewy beef roast and frozen vegetables. Yuk. Frozen, cheap, poor quality food was abundant. Lunch time was BBQ and not too bad, breakfast was basic but ok. Cheap coffee and tea so gave it a miss.
The staff were indifferent at best. One of the staff yelled at my son to get off the transport for one of the activities because they were using it for tourists that day. At breakfast on the last day i was asked when we were leaving so they could get in and clean our room. Any time I complained I felt as though I was considered a bit of a whinger so I didn't bother after a while.
The best i could say is that the activities were varied and the kids had plenty to do all day. Also the heating was quite adequate for the weather.
Needless to say we wouldn't recommend this to anyone else unless you like wasting your money.
